I’m Ashleigh, Owner/Founder of Bashful + Bold. My husband and I live in Fox River Grove, IL. We have 5 sons (17,14,11,6,4) and a Freya (4) 😉( IYKYK). I spend my days cleaning up the same mess over and over again, running a little bit late to everything I do and of course making lip balm!
Starting Bashful and Bold felt like an extension of my personality. A little bit of Bashful and a little bit of Bold. While they are seemingly opposite they are a true reflection of my personality. I wanted my brand to reflect this duality and resonate with people who navigate life in a similar way.
People who know me well are familiar with both my bashful and bold sides. They’ve seen me quietly observing in social settings, taking in every detail, or as some may describe it..people watching 😜. They’ve also witnessed moments where my boldness shines through, whether it’s talking about something I’m excited about or giving my very helpful unsolicited advice. 🫣
When the idea for Bashful + Bold first came about I approached it with the same caution that characterized my bashful side. I spent countless hours researching ingredients, experimenting with formulas, and perfecting the blends. I was meticulous, almost to a fault, wanting everything to be just right with lots of hiccups along the way. Second guessing myself at almost every step.
When I first officially launched my website I remember continuously refreshing my browser to see if any new orders would come in. The bashful part of me worried, Would people like it? Would they even buy it? Am I wasting my time? But as my first order came in the feeling confidence and boldness took over.
I am still in the beginning stages of all of this, sometimes my bashful side lingers when I make a mistake and wonder if I should even continue doing this. Just as that feeling comes the bold side pushes through and a new idea comes to light and the excitement for what’s next takes over.
Everytime I see someone with Bashful + Bold Balm Bar I am reminded of the journey it represents. It’s a reminder to NOURISH YOUR BASHFUL and EMBRACE YOUR BOLD. You never know where it will lead you.
